They Don't Come Willingly!

One animal that really stands out to me is the Orca. The Orca is among the dolphin species and has a name of "Killer Whale" at marine theme parks or better known as abusement parks. The Orca is the wolf of the sea and hunts in packs with a chain of command like the pack of wolves have on land. They would hunt certain whale migrations and aim for the young and/or weak to get their food. This is what gave them the name killer whales but people think that they are killers and flock from miles around to go and support abusement parks just to capture a glimpse of these magnificent animals.

Now I just seen this video that surprisingly enough shocked me! I have heard of the dolphin trade from Taiji Bay and I have heard of the killing of Dolphins and Pilot Whales but never have I heard of Orca selling! This video dates back to 1997 but it just shows you that this town with its cetacean capturers (Not fishermen) and the high officials that make the orders and sell these beautiful wild animals have no boundaries and will take anything that they can make a few dollars from.

It is heartbreaking hearing the Orca's cry and shows anyone listening that they are Sentient Beings and can feel their freedom being lost and their fear for their family members. Orca's can live up to 90 to 100 years old and stay with their families forever. So a pod of Orcas can have from great grandmothers to babies swimming and migrating together. Watching this video only strengthens my journey to Taiji to make this death pool connected to the ocean cease to exist!

In the Western World like Canada has two marine abusement parks - one is Marineland Canada and the other is the Vancouver Aquarium. Marineland Canada is close to me and is privately owned and we have done so much to shut this place down but the laws are not helping us!

Niagara Action For Animals has been doing their best for years to shut this abusement park down and they were even sued by the owner for interfering with business actions.

I was also down in Miami and learned of another beautiful orca named "Lolita" who was not captured in Taiji Bay but had been surviving in a small pool for 4 decades now. Her whole family met their fate in Puget Sound, Washington. Lolita is the only survivor of I believe 6 that were taken into captivity back in 1970.

There are so many issues regarding captivity that needs to be educated to the young and shut down for good! There is no difference from a child alone in a room and an orca/dolphin/shark put into a tank! They do feel even though we cannot always understand their emotions and/or sounds. This industry needs to end and we need to express these horrible establishments to our children through educational means to change our society to a more balanced positive direction.

Out of 136 Orcas that have been taken into Captivity since 1961 - about 123 of them have died with an average life span in captivity of only 4 years.

Please watch this Public Service Announcement for Lolita

Stay positive its the only energy that the darkness cannot extinguish!

The next and final event I have coming up is January 8th in Hamilton at the 3rd floor of Bizclip on #327 King Street West with the band AdvertEyes and Vegan Food cooked by a chef. You can view more details here: FACEBOOK R.S.V.P.

Please contact your closest Japanese Embassy/Consulate and let them know you do not approve and want the dolphin slaughter to stop: Stop The Slaughter

It was a couple of years ago that I first learned about Taiji Bay aka "The Cove" when I did a painting that I called "The Rising Sun Exposes The Guilt". Now I have an opportunity to do more and this is becoming a "Cove Guardian" with the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society in Taiji Bay, Japan.
I have started to organize ways to raise some money and awareness about this decision I have made and you can donate and share on facebook,  , Paypal (timmons.animal.artist@gmail.com)
