My Journey Started Just Over 3 Years Ago

It has been just over 3 years now since I moved into my journey to help animals on many levels. Painting is my first and foremost skill that has changed my life. I watched a movie called “Sharkwater” and then I decided to paint about the shark finning industry and tried to submit it to an art showing that was juried but was denied. This set me off onto a whole new world that not only changed my way of thinking but I took on a vegan lifestyle.

I now paint the plight of the ocean with what I call my “Awareness Paintings”. I do my best to compile all the needed visuals to promote the story of the issue I want to relay to young and old. I have started with the slaughters of the ocean and now the plight of the ocean itself. The paintings have been shown at many art showings but I do not want to sell them. They are meant to be together and tell the story of what is happening from Whales, dolphins, seals, sea turtles and sharks. I am compiling a book of these paintings to further the animals lives of decline into book readers from schools to bookstores.

Now when I started my journey of researching animal slaughters I learned a lot to the point I needed to go public. I joined ARK II – Animal Rights Kollective of Toronto – Canada as their Director of International Campaigns since I built up a worldwide network just for animals. My first campaign with them was about shark cartilage against a company called Holista. We won this campaign 9 months after making it a nationwide win throughout Canada. I became very active on the streets with organizing demonstrations, protests, fundraisers for animal charities. I also became a board member for Oceanic Defense that was based out of California at the time to aid them in any grassroots action required. After that I founded my own organization called “Ocean Activists United – International Grassroots Action” which had 16 locations worldwide at one time. Then at the end of 2010 I was asked by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society if I wanted to be the Regional Coordinator for their Toronto Chapter which I gladly accepted.

Throughout the 3 years I only travel now for animal related issues from documenting, painting and/or organizing. This year alone I have gone to Japan where they slaughter dolphins in the town of Taiji to educate my readers and followers of the source of cetacean captivity and swim with dolphins. I witnessed 90 Dolphins slaughtered and 4 species of dolphins the time I spent there in Japan. Just a month ago I helped organize an Anti-captivity Mass Gathering in Miami – Florida where we did it at a location called Seaquarium that houses a very lonely female Orca named Lolita. The event was for worldwide captivity from zoos to aquariums with the focus on one establishiment while we had 5 other cities worldwide join in on the same day. I have also recorded 95% of what I do from the streets to the fundraisers as another tool to educate and bring awareness to the subject we are speaking about.

I also have done a lot of public speaking ever since I became aware of the animal issues globally. I feel it is the passion to help animals that gives me the courage to speak up and be a voice. I take any and all opportunities that come my way for animals and I do my best to support and/or network animal organizations to get them the help they need especially sanctuaries. I also donate prints of my art work to many fundraisers worldwide and I have one in particular that I donate to dozens of Sea Shepherd events every year that alone has raised over $3,000.

I am on facebook and I am very active locally and globally. I connect people, help support, and or raise awareness for them all for the bottom line of helping animals.

Now I go by the phrase "Artist for the Ocean".

Original Art Up For Sale To Aid in Journey To Taiji

Art Fundraiser with Taiji In Mind!

It was the 2010 Dolphin Slaughter season in Japan that I took my first journey over seas for the dolphins. I seen a lot and learned a lot on how the people of Japan are to how well a worldwide handful of activists can work together. Taiji is not unique for animal slaughter but it is for wild dolphin slaughter. As an artist I can offer you some great artwork either original paintings, prints, and jewelry to help aid me to support the dolphins once again. We need to keep our presence in Taiji to show the town and the fisherman that we are not backing down and will keep this horrific action exposed!

Below I have some Original Paintings available for sale to support my journey along with store items filled with prints and jewelry available. There is one piece of jewelry I sell to tell the the story of the dolphins. I call my Jewelry line `Blood in the Ocean`and each piece has an image of an ocean animal and red garnet which reflects a blood tear drop. A blood tear drop is what I use in my awareness paintings that have a story of the animals while the animal is shedding a blood tear. I have completed one of them for Taiji back in 2009 called `The Rising Sun Exposes The Guilt`.

This poster was created after a picture was taken when I entered the Cove in Taiji while the Banger Boats were driving in 10 Bottle-nose Dolphins. I would love to send anyone a poster that donates $75 or greater so please when you donate leave an up to date address.

Here are some original paintings that are up for sale to help this journey and all can be paid through paypal to timmons.animal.artist@gmail.com!

Animal Freedom Day(s)

Make a change for your world on July 23rd & 24th!

You can participate by watching the live online webcast on July 23rd-July 24th via Animal Freedom Day's website. See as many musicians, artists and others come out to show their support for Animal Freedom Day. It doesn't matter where you are in the world during this time, all can take part and "attend" by simply celebrating the day.

Animal Freedom Day (July 23rd & 24th 2011) is a global event that aims to raise awareness towards the environmental crisis, human health and animal welfare. It is a day in which people from all walks of life cease to consume animal or animal by-products. It is our goal to gain support to put an end to animal abuse and to create more alternative vegan food sources.

This event was founded and is organized by Canada's Nadia Masoudi, an 18 year old with a passion for the protection of animals everywhere so much so that she is now directing and producing a major documentary, "Don't Eat Me". As her research for the film expanded, Nadia joined with several like minded individuals to create a worldwide event to help bring about the end to animal and human suffering - Animal Freedom Day.

We are also anticipating the release of Don't Eat Me this summer! Please stay tuned for more info.

The first Animal Freedom Day was held on July 24th 2010. It was a huge online and international success as more than 30 countries and thousands of people from around the world took part. (http://www.animalfreedomday.com/mem/videos.php)
Both Animal Freedom Day and the film, Don't Eat Me, educate people to respect the environment, better their health and care for animal welfare.

On July 23rd and 24th 2011, you can show your support for animals everywhere by making at least one day in your entire year an "animal free" day.
We encourage everyone to sign up (http://www.animalfreedomday.com/mem/register.php) for Animal Freedom Day by taking the "Veg Pledge" and to sign and share the "Go Animal-Free for Animal Freedom Day" petition. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/864/885/875/

For more information please visit www.animalfreedomday.com

Please share this event with your family and friends so they too can take part in these extraordinary days!
