MAKE OCEAN DAY EVERYDAY!

June 8th - 2011

June 8th every year is considered a worldwide celebration for the ocean!

Earth Day = Ocean Day! This planet's surface is 70% Ocean and 80% of the oxygen we breath is from the ocean! About 99% of the species on this planet live in the ocean - also 99% of the land is under the ocean's water too!

Its crazy when we see the percentages and then we realize how small we are on this planet. So we are all connected to the ocean by every second breath being produced from the ocean's plankton not the land's forests. Its time to learn about the ocean and share the information of what the great "Blue" really has to offer and what we can do to protect it.

Please watch this amazing speech by Sylvia Earle as she accepts a TED Award about her work with the ocean and her research.

  1. Greenopolis is celebrating the beautiful ocean on this very celebratory day, but we want to remind you that the oceans are not just beautiful - people also need to protect them. They are critical for our survival and they are in need of Ocean Aid. http://youtu.be/JzjH1rq9VVA
