Protect The Amazon - Brazil (August 20th) & International Solidarity (August 22nd)

This past weekend so many cities/countries from around the world came together in solidarity to be as one with the Indigenous people, animals, plants of the Amazon!

The Amazon is in dire straits! The Forest Code has been altered after 46 years of protecting the Amazon. Its Criminal to know that the Forest Code was altered to allow a large dam called the Belo Monte to be built and cause so much destruction. It will be the 3rd largest dam in the world and Belo Monte means Beautiful Mountain.

Well this Beautiful Mountain is going to Flood the Beautiful Amazon - 60% of the Amazon is planned to be flooded by this dam. In order to feed this dam they have to construct 68 other dams that will cut off the Xingu River at the point its called "The Big Bend". Within the Big Bend on the Xingu River lives approximately 50,000 indigenous people and over 100,000 different animals and plant species. The river is transportation, food, and home to these people, animals, and a very unique biodiversity that we still do not fully understand.

People have already been killed for this Belo Monte construction plan and this is why we must stand with the Brazilian Indigenous people before the lungs of the earth is drowned by its own rivers of life.
